7th AND 8th GRADE STUDENTS! Join us for a short info meeting to learn about our confirmation program, which kicks off in October. It's a meaningful and fun time of learning about faith in a way that's geared toward junior high. Our confirmation program seeks to engage our youth in active Christian living and to lead our young people to commit to the study of God’s Word, regular worship, prayer, selfless service, and Christian fellowship for life. Students and at least one parent are invited to join us for this short meeting in the youth room after second service. Non-members are also welcome to participate! For more information, please contact Jason Moreno <pastorjason@cmlhouston.org>

CHOIR REHEARSALS for Fall and Christmas music will start September 17th. We will rehearse on Sunday evenings at 6:30 pm in the Fellowship Hall to sing at the 8:15 am worship services. No experience necessary! For more information, ask Sue Early (sue@cmlhouston.org)

MESSAGE FROM PASTOR JASON

It's so strange to introduce myself when I know you all already. And yet, I feel like it might be a good idea to say a few words since I'll be serving with you a lot more over the coming months. Over these last four years with CML, I have come, not only to see how God can use me in His work in this community, but also to feel embraced by Christ Memorial - because we are all pursuing the same goal: to love God and to love one another. I have been asked to serve during this current interim on a full-time basis, I said yes because I know you and believe we can do a lot together as a team.

I know that this isn't "my" congregation - this is "our" congregation. I am going to stumble - that is a given. This humility is not about self-doubt - it is about knowing that our strength will come, not from believing the pastor always has the right answer, but from encouraging one another, sharing words with a spirit of compassion and grace, looking for the best in one another, even when we aren't always at our best.

I will be at the church on Wednesdays, some Fridays and Tuesdays. By Thanksgiving, I should be full-time at the church. I don't know God's timing, but I have to believe that all of this is in His hands, and I am curious to see how He uses this season to help us grow closer to Him.

Thank you,
Rev. Jason Moreno, AICP

Interim Lead Pastor, Christ Memorial Lutheran - Houston
